America's Oldest Organic Winery - No Sulfites Added

Frey Vineyards is the oldest (since 1980) and largest purely organic winery in the United States. It is also the first in the country to produce Biodynamic® wines. Our vineyards and winery are nestled on the slopes of the Redwood Valley A.V.A. (American Viticultural Area) in Mendocino County, California, at the headwaters of the Russian River. All grapes for the organic wines are grown in accordance with California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). For the new estate-bottled Biodynamic® wines, the grapes are grown in accordance with the Demeter Association (an internationally recognized Biodynamic® certification agency). The wines are made with no added sulfites. Our innovative winemaking techniques compensate for the lack of this pungent preservative (which can induce headaches, sniffles, and other allergic reactions in some people). The wine is therefore free to reveal its delicate and true flavors. Emphasis is on producing wine of the highest quality while caring for planet and palate alike.

ORGANIC ZINFANDEL
The bench land soils of Redwood Valley produce magnificent Zinfandels. Ours is a blend from five organic vineyards. Filled with tight blackberry and raspberry fruit, this wine is aged on French Oak. Buen Provecho!

ORGANIC CHARDONNAY
Brilliant golden hue. Crisp, clean apple flavors with a modest touch of French oak. Made from CCOF certified organic Chardonnay grapes harvested in September, 2004, from the Butow, Light and Frey vineyards. These nearby vineyards all share the benchland soils of Redwood Valley in the heart of Mendocino County. Excellent with seafood and fruit platters.

ORGANIC GEWURZTRAMINER
Hard to pronounce, but easy to sip! A distinctive dry Gewurztraminer featuring crisp layers of grapefruit, mandarin orange and white pepper flavors. Organically grown for 20 years at Cold Creek Ranch in Potter Valley. Try poaching a pear with a little Gewurztraminer, clove and cinnamon.

ORGANIC CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Black cherry aromas and plum fruit with a hint of mint on the finish. The wine is a blend of Cabernet grapes from Redwood Valley and Ukiah. This wine is aged on French Oak. Sip it slowly with Fair Trade organic chocolate..

The ultimate food friendly wine. Tropical flavors of pineapple and passion fruit married with delicate French oak will complement spicy ethnic cuisine. This wine is a pleasing blend of fruit from Lake and Mendocino counties. Try it with goat cheese rolled in an endive leaf, topped with fresh minced herbs.

A great everyday food wine. A blend of Butte County Chenin Blanc and Mendocino Chardonnay results in a medium-bodied wine with crisp acid and melon and pear fruit. Perfect for a picnic or a soup and salad dinner. This excellent wine is a pleasure to both purse and palate.

ORGANIC PINOT NOIR
(2006 vintage will be released summer of 2007). Light and delicate, this Pinot Noir is a harmonious symphony of strawberries, mint and pomegranate. The fruit is a blend of Uncle Bob’s 27 year old dry farmed vineyard and 10 year old vines from Frey’s Potter Valley Vineyard. Harvested in Sept. 2005 and aged on French Oak. Complements fish, fowl, and fruit salads.

Velvety smooth and ready to drink. Plum and cranberry flavors blend with an earthy backbone. A blend of Merlot from the Neece Ranch in Redwood Valley and Frey Vineyard’s home ranch. The limited supply of fruit was harvested October 2004 and aged on French Oak. Serve with lamb, wild rice and a fruit pie.

ORGANIC LATE HARVEST ZINFANDEL
An elegant and unique dessert wine, barrel aged for two years. Warm lingering autumn days in 2002 allowed a small block of Graziano Vineyard’s Redwood Valley Zinfandel grapes to ripen to maximum sweetness. This wine possesses sweet and luscious jammy fruit flavors to savor with chocolate truffles or blueberry pie.
